Wellness Programs

Wellness Programs

Wellness programs that will meet your needs, mind, body, and spirit. As we broaden our scope of how to maintain wellness, we’ll be empowered to take charge of our well being. Participants will experience their bodies and minds in new ways while also learning tools to honor their basic self-care needs.

How Wellness Programs Work

Group Instruction for wellness programs is designed to meet the specific needs of your clients, staff, students, or educators. Sessions may be scheduled as a series, offered as weekly, monthly, or as a one-time wellness event. Introduction to boxing basics for empowerment, stress relief, and developing body awareness is adapted to the specific needs of those attending.

For over 15 years, I have provided services to human services agencies, schools, recovery programs, community programs, and non-profits.

Most group sessions involve a combination of body-focused instruction and practice, empowerment coaching, and supportive counseling. The flow of the session is as varied as the type of participants who may attend.

Sessions may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Basic boxing instruction
  • Skills Training in the areas of self-care, boundary setting, body awareness, and non-violent communication.
  • Introduction and practice of tools that build mind-body connections. ie., breathing, postures opposite to emotions, visualization, and grounding).

How Do Sessions Work?

Wellness program sessions are presented with attention to the participants’ needs, goals, and learning style/ limitations. Movement practices are introduced and practiced with underlying group goals as the centerpiece. For Example:

  • Therapists, educators, or direct care providers addressing issues of self-care and wellness specific to work-related stress and burnout
  • Mental health wellness participants seeking tools to self regulate, feel more grounded, and aware of their body’s reactions
  • Offering experiences for Developmentally disabled adults to feel a sense of self-efficacy and strong within their bodies (link to Community Options Video Below)
  • Survivors of violence can override feelings of powerlessness and release suppressed emotions

Wellness related topics, challenges, and experiences common to the group may be discussed. Peer support and participation are encouraged but not required.

Sessions may include:

  • Instruction on how to access the energy of your solar plexus through posture, breath, and movement.
  • An introduction or review of a variety of strikes. This may include upper and lower body movements.
  • An opportunity to practice boxing / martial arts strikes and combinations adapted specifically for empowerment and emotional release.
  • Discussion and sharing your personal experience with the practice.

As participants become more comfortable with the movements, repetition will naturally ebb into more involved combinations, but never beyond where individuals are comfortable. Participants are encouraged to be mindful of their personal needs and to set limits around how they participate accordingly.
